The GreaterMUD Project , established by Vitoc in 2004, is a closed source MajorMUD engine clone that is capable of running as a standalone game without the need for Worldgroup software. With the original MajorMUD module having been long abandoned by the developer, In 2017 a small group of players began a project to rebalance and extend the popular text-based adventure game into bold and exotic new directions. This fosters a fresh and lively MajorMUD-like experience with a modern twist. In 2023 a decision was made to keep GreaterMUD content faithful to the original and move the updated content to a new home, and thus Paradigm MUD was born.
